In the great age of institution building, people with disabilities living in mental asylums, state schools, and homes for the feeble-minded had little control over their lives; letters from families to supervisory staff tell us how families felt, but little evidence of life lived inside survives. We've also put materials related to the fight against epidemic venereal disease that was carried on by public health and eugenic organizations here, and this is where we've put our resources related to the eugenic movie melodrama, The Black Stork (1917). |
