Elyria, Ohio The RealAudio excerpt to the right will play an audio clip from a movie biography made about Edgar Allen in the 1950s. The film takes liberties with Allen's story. It exaggerates the costs of the hospital he built, and it insists that "Jimmy", the boy who inspired Allen to create the Society for Crippled Children, was cured. This is a 1950s spin: The importance of Allen's community organizing and fundraising is overshadowed by the wonders of medicine. |
